Hey team,

Earlier this year we started working with a new client, publishing content across all the major platforms, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, etc

Now he was getting pretty strong reach, roughly 1 million views per month, with about half coming from Facebook

But one of the issues I spotted was he was using a Facebook profile, aka a personal account, rather than a Facebook page

Which is something Ive noticed a few people have done on accident when growing their personal brands, especially when Instagram has been their main focus and they simply connected Facebook on the side for crossposting

The was okay for the first couple months but then Facebook removed the ability to see how many unique viewers you had for the month, which is quite an important metric, especially for sponsors

Facebook profiles still get strong reach, in fact we had multiple videos well over 100,000 views and many image posts at the same numbers

But I had a feeling the algorithm was holding back profiles, and the lack of seeing unique viewers was enough to push me over the line

So I made the call its time to switch to a Facebook profile, as eventually we’ll have to and its better to swap when he’s got 10,000 followers and 500,000 monthly views, than 100,000 followers and 5million monthly views

The first week views were down 95% from 125,000 on average, down to 5,000

A month in and whilst some images had performed well, our video views were ruined, 11,500 for the month, compared to the profile which was averaging 300,000+ monthly

Nothing had changed in the content, we were still posting every day, but nothing was hitting

The client was understandably nervous, but I kept saying to trust the process

I probably sounded like Mikel Arteta (for those who get the reference)

We’re now almost two months into switching from the profile to the page

And in the past four weeks we’ve hit 3million views, triple the views of his best ever month, reaching over 1 million unique viewers on Facebook alone

Now Im not saying this was entirely down to the switch

But we haven’t changed the posting frequency, or the content, or the captions

A couple topical posts have picked up but thats normal for this client

But we have seen a drastic jump in views from switching from profile to page

It was very slow the first 30 or so posts, to the point where it looked like it wasn’t working

But as soon as we gained momentum, its gone better than ever

That may seem obvious to some people to use a Facebook page, but equally there are people out there who didn’t think much of it setting things up and have trapped themselves on a Facebook profile, likely scared to lose their progress

Set up the page, post every day, share it to your profile, and just stick with it

Hope this helps,
Josh
